Empress of the Deep: The Darkest Secret is a hidden-object game in which you must help Anna, who has awaken in a strange underwater world, recover her identity and discover the mystery of the Dark Empress. Throughout the game you will visit many scenes looking for clues and playing hidden-object games. In every new scene you visit, use your mouse to move around and interact with it. When you pick up an object in the main scene, it is stored in your inventory for future use. Hidden-object games also allow to you collect clues when you find all objects. If you have trouble finding an object, you can always resort to the hints, which are unlimited, but take some time to recharge. What is more, all important information is recorded in your book once you've found it. The book has many sections that may guide you on your search.
Unfortunately, the game has only one mode, but has some mini-games that add some variety and make the game more enjoyable. The game has an intriguing story that encourages you to continue playing to know how it ends. As for the graphics, they leave a lot to be desired, since they are not very detailed. The scenes are nicely created, but the lack of detail make them look not so good. Sound effects are good, and the music is nice, but gets repetitive and annoying after a while.
In short, Empress of the Deep: The Darkest Secret is just another hidden-object game which doesn't include anything new or impressive, but has an interesting plot which makes it deserve a try.
